Sacred Sea Tuna, F/V Peso II, Rick Goché

Rick caught his first commercial fish in 1966 at the age of 13. That same year he began working for Oregon State University at a research lab a few miles from his home. Since then, he has been involved in all aspects of fisheries from research to retail. Rick owns the F/V Peso II, his fifth troller, a freezer boat fishing albacore out of Charleston, Oregon.

In describing the name of his company, Sacred Sea, Rick says, “When my kids and I were trying to figure out a brand name and a label we wanted the name and the feel of the label to reflect the best moments of life at sea and the reason we choose this life. We talked about those rare days when the weather is good, the ocean is flat and fish are biting. On those days our connection with the sea is felt to the core of our spirit. The experience is best described as “Sacred”.
